This project was selected as a national project aimed at creating added value with the rich natural gas resources of Brunei Darussalam as the raw material. In April 2007, a gas supply contract was concluded with Brunei Shell Petroleum and construction of the plant began in February 2008, when the cornerstone was laid in the presence of the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam.

The plant started operating in April 2010 and products began shipping in May of the same year. Currently, we are selling the products mainly to Asian markets. With respect to distribution, Brunei Methanol Tanker Sdn. Bhd. was set up in 2008. The company is building sales systems that are adaptable to market demand and setting up transportations arrangements for the product by means of operating custom-built vessels currently under construction.
