Food Resources
In the field of food resources, we utilize our supply bases in North America, Asia, Australia, South America and elsewhere to export a range of foods such as grains, sugar, coffee and livestock products to Japan and third party countries.
While there are fears of pressure on global supply and demand for food resources given rising populations, primarily in the emerging economies, there is also a growing consumer need for food safety. As it becomes increasingly important to secure locations in producing areas from the perspectives of both quantity and quality (safety), ITOCHU is advancing initiatives in producing areas such as building an export grain terminal in the United States, and taking an equity position in a manufacturer of dairy products in Australia to build points for a stable and continuous supply of raw materials. In the future, we seek to contribute to society by continuing to build stable supply systems for food resources.
