ITOCHU Announces International Environment Photo Exhibition to be Held at ITOCHU AOYAMA ART SQUARE as a Special Summer Project

Event for Considering the Invaluable Quality of the Global Environment

June 30, 2014

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) has held many different exhibitions at ITOCHU AOYAMA ART SQUARE. The venue was opened in October 2012 in the CI Plaza commercial facility next to the Tokyo Head Office Building with a view to fostering future generations, contributing to the community, and promoting art and culture within and outside Japan through art in social action programs.

ITOCHU announced today that the International Environment Photograph Exhibition will be held at ITOCHU AOYAMA ART SQUARE in cooperation with the International Environment Photographers Association as a special program during the summer vacation season.
By hosting environmental photo exhibitions under the philosophy that beautiful, natural landscapes are deeply connected to the spiritual wealth of people, the association is for raising public awareness about the true state of global environmental disruption and the importance of preserving nature. Its activities are based on a policy of making the magnificent qualities of the global environment, the value of natural life on our planet, and the current state of vanishing nature widely accessible to the public through ecologically and environmentally related photography. Since global environmental issues, such as global warming, present a challenge to human survival, ITOCHU’s Environmental Policy also stipulates that the ITOCHU Group, as a global player, proactively supports improvement of the global environment and contributes to realizing sustainable society while regarding global environmental issues as one of the most pressing concerns in its management policy. This jointly hosted exhibition aims to convey the importance of our priceless Earth and its environment as widely as possible and help cultivate sensitivity within children through works of highly environment-conscious photographers brought together in a single location.
