A new way to learn bookkeeping with iPod®
TOKYO LEGAL MIND (LEC) is an institution for various qualifications and standardized exam preparation. In developing “OTOBOKI” it partnered with Mr. Masayuki Shibayama, who is a certified public accountant and licensed tax accountant as well as the author of a popular "workbook for qualification as a grade-three bookkeeper presenting questions in order of appearance in actual tests".
"OTOBOKI" constitutes an unprecedented approach to mastery of basic journalization in double-entry bookkeeping for learning at any place and time, merely by downloading the contents to an iPod, listening to them, and visualizing as instructed.
Whether they are still in or have long since graduated from school, it is hard for people to make time to study. The product is aimed at heightening the efficiency of learning among those hoping to acquire qualification within a short time, by enabling use as both a text and an item for review of instruction.

Description |
Listeners are asked to picture a five-story building in which each floor is divided into debtor room and creditor room, there are floors of assets, liabilities, capital, income, and costs and the movement among floors and rooms is the flow of money. While visualizing the flow of assets and liabilities within the "building" in this way, they memorize the 30 basic journalizations on the third-grade qualification exam. In other words, they learn journalizations by visualizing and imagining them. The product may be expected to yield synergistic benefits in use with lectures and reference books, and is recommended for all people studying for exams to pass third-grade bookkeeping qualification, those who have such qualification but have forgotten much of the material, and those who secretly want to go over the basics again. |
Audiobook market
Audiobooks are beginning to attract attention as a category of non-music audio digital contents in Japan. In the United States, the audiobook market has grown to the extent that it now comes to about 100 billion yen (according to estimates by the U.S. Audio Publishers Association/ non-digital contents included). In Japan, too, the spread of iPod and other digital audio players is being accompanied by a rise in the number of downloads for contents such as yoga voice instruction and language instruction. At present, the number of contents (including English ones) that can be downloaded from Japanese sites already tops 25,000.
