ITOCHU Announces Opening of First VI NA FamilyMart Store, the First Joint Venture Japanese Retail Business in Vietnam

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. (Vietnam time) the opening of “Saigon Sky Garden store,” the first store operated by VI NA FamilyMart Company Limited. (headquartered in Ho-Chi-Minh City, Vietnam; hereinafter “VI NA FM”).
VI NA FM was licensed in Ho Chi Minh City in June this year and is a joint venture between ITOCHU, FamilyMart Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Toshima-ku, Tokyo), and Phu Thai Group Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam; hereinafter “Phu Thai”).
Saigon Sky Garden store will be the fourteenth FamilyMart store in Vietnam since the opening of the first one in December 2009. The other thirteen FamilyMart stores in Vietnam were operated by Family Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Phu Thai, but in future they will be operated by both VI NA FM and Family Company Limited.
