Magnificent clouds over Mt. Chokai in Akita Prefecture, Japan.
In earlier days, the farmers and fishermen who lived in small villages here used the clouds to forecast the weather before they went to work.
They likened these clouds to the butterbur sprout flower, the official flower of Akita Prefecture, and believed them to be a sign of rain.
