The Great East Japan Earthquake Support Activities

Volunteer Activities Vol.24

During October 17 to 19, a total of 21 employees including new recruits from the Food Company felled the bush on a land in Rikuzen-Takata City, where a liaison office of Minna no Ie (a house for everybody) is planned to be built. People in the affected areas offered grilled sauries and grilled entrails for lunch and baked sweet potatoes as treats for afternoon break. The employee volunteers thus deepened exchanges with the local people by interacting with them directly at the same time as working hard to support them. The employees felt both the deep hurt that still remains among the people and their energy toward reconstruction. It seems that they took the feelings with sincerity and the volunteer activity gave them an opportunity to think what they can do.
