The Great East Japan Earthquake Support Activities

Volunteer Activities Vol.19

This program had nine participants including those from our group companies. They visited Minna no Ie, a community house in the affected area, to assist in building earth retaining, cutting off bamboos and doing other activities around the facility. The participants also helped a fruit garden select and collect apples that had dropped due to Typhoon No. 26 right before being harvested. The work at the fruit garden, located on sloped ground, was physically tougher than expected. Blessed with fine weather, nevertheless, the colleagues did more than the client had expected. Large-scale construction was under way in a coastal area which was the central part of Rikuzen-Takata City. However, more support is needed to help the affected people get back their life before the disaster.
