Brunei Darussalam Methanol Project

This project was selected as a national project aimed at creating added value with the rich natural gas resources of Brunei Darussalam as the raw material. In April 2007, a gas supply contract was concluded with Brunei Shell Petroleum and the plant started operating in April 2010, and we are currently developing sales of methanol, mainly in the Asian market.
Methanol has many downstream applications, and is attracting attention as an environmentally friendly fuel from the perspective of low CO2, SOx, and NOx emissions. It is also possible to produce methanol using CO2 and biomass as the main raw material (part of the raw material for this plant is also CO2), and we are focusing on this product as a hydrogen carrier that is expected to play a role in adapting to and contributing to a recycling-oriented society.
