ITOCHU is working alongside strong Group companies to expand both the construction business and the building materials business, and we have established a strong presence in both these markets. In the construction business, we are engaged in the design, construction and maintenance of detached homes, plants and warehouses. Meanwhile, in the building materials business, we are involved in all aspects of supply, from planting the trees that provide the wood used to make building materials, through product development, fabrication and trading, right down to the distribution and sale of materials. In this sector, we also play a mediating role in the supply of construction facilities, equipment and materials not only for development projects conducted by the ITOCHU Group but also in various other types of projects both in Japan and overseas, and we are working to strengthen the ITOCHU Group’s value chain in the building materials business.

Leveraging the respective strengths of ITOHPIA HOME CO., LTD. and CHUSETSU Engineering CO., LTD., ITOCHU is improving the level of services provided to customers. As the ITOCHU Group’s housebuilder, ITOHPIA HOME has supplied more than 15,000 detached homes to date, mainly in the Tokyo Metropolitan area. Meanwhile, CHUSETSU Engineering provides diagnosis, planning, design, construction, maintenance, management and repair services backed by an extensive track record that includes building plants and logistics facilities and constructing logistics systems for processed foods.

Development and manufacturing of wood-based raw materials and building construction materials
Daiken Corporation, an operating company that belongs to the ITOCHU Group provides a wide range of eco-friendly construction materials for creating spacious buildings with an emphasis on safety and comfort. Daiken uses its own unique concepts and technologies to develop raw materials such as wood-based resources, mineral resources and Japanese paper, and uses these raw materials in the development of high-performance building materials that form spaces focusing on safety, peace of mind, health and comfort. Daiken is also involved in building and creating spaces that optimize the performance of the building materials.

As Japan’s first construction materials-focused trading company, ITOCHU KENZAI CORPORATION not only offers a wide range of home-related products such as housing materials, wood materials, wood products and building materials, it also provides services related to the environment, trading, logistics, design, construction and business support. In 2007, ITOCHU KENZAI launched its original brand “CHIKYUGI” (Earth Tree). We are working to make business and environmental awareness compatible by developing products that utilize recyclable plantation trees.
