ITOCHU Announces Reopening of Baghdad Liaison Office

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that its office in Baghdad, Iraq was reopened on August 1, 2012 and became fully operational from September.
ITOCHU established an office in Baghdad in 1953, which developed business in Iraq centered on oil and mechanical businesses, such as automobiles and plant equipment, but following the outbreak of the Gulf Crisis in 1990 there was no option but to close the office. However, now that the situation in Iraq has improved, the decision has been made to reopen the office in view of the vast potential of that country.
ITOCHU will contribute to the development of Iraq by rebuilding its businesses in Iraq via the Baghdad Liaison Office.
