Exchange of Shopping Coupons Usable at FamilyMart Stores in Specified Distress Areas Introduced for Exchange for Reconstruction Assistance Housing Eco-Points

January 25, 2012

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that together with FamilyMart Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Toshima-ku, Tokyo; Junji Ueda, President & CEO, hereinafter “FamilyMart”) and Famima.com Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Toshima-ku, Tokyo; Toru Ichikawa, President & CEO, hereinafter “Famima.com”) it will introduce Eco-point Exchangeable Shopping Coupons (hereinafter “shopping coupons”) that can be converted from Reconstruction Assistance Housing Eco-points, set up for reconstruction assistance from the Great East Japan Earthquake, starting February 1, 2012 (Wednesday). (Receiving of applications for exchange will start January 25.)
The shopping coupons will be issued and used only in approximately 920 stores of FamilyMart in the specified distress area.

In the Reconstruction Assistance Housing Eco-point System, points are issued when eco-housing is constructed or eco-reform is made. It is aimed at supporting reconstruction in the disaster-hit areas, activation of the housing market and energy conservation in residences. Points can be exchanged for reconstruction assistance products and eco-products.

This scheme has been made possible by registering ITOCHU as the eco-point exchange operator, with the FamilyMart Group providing “Fami-port” terminals, enabling issue and receipt of coupons at FamilyMart stores.

The shopping coupons use the “Fami-port Coupon” issuing service of multimedia Fami-port terminals installed in FamilyMart stores. When an application for shopping coupons is filed with the eco-point office, a special serial ID will be issued from the Fami-port Coupon secretariat office. Shopping coupons can be issued by input of this ID into a Fami-port terminal. Shopping coupons can be issued and used at participating stores 24 hours a day. (Please refer to the details on shopping coupons below.)

ITOCHU and the FamilyMart Group will contribute to quick recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake through expansion of consumption in the disaster-hit areas.

(*)“Specified distress area” indicates 220 cities, towns and villages in 10 prefectures [all areas of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures and parts of Aomori, Tochigi, Saitama, Ibaraki, Chiba, Niigata and Nagano Prefectures] provided in the Act on Special Financial Support and Assistance to Deal with the Great East Japan Earthquake.
