ITOCHU Announces Expansion in Asia Jointly with Benefit One
- Provision of Welfare-related Services in Thailand and Indonesia -
June 4, 2014
ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter "ITOCHU") announced today that it will provide welfare-related services in Thailand and Indonesia through Benefit One Asia Pte. Ltd. (hereinafter "Benefit One Asia") which ITOCHU established in Singapore in October 2013 jointly with Benefit One Inc. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Norio Shiraishi, President & CEO; hereinafter "Benefit One").
From this month Incentive Point, a points-based reward program, will be offered to employees of Japanese and local companies expanding into Thailand through Benefit One (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Benefit One Thailand") which was established on January 7, 2014.
In Thailand, pay levels have been rising together with economic progress in recent years and the unemployment rate has declined to below one percent. In these employment conditions many in the work force are actively changing their jobs. As a consequence there is a growing demand for improved incentive/welfare programs to secure capable human resources to work for local companies. Accordingly, Benefit One Thailand from this June will provide Incentive Point, a points-based reward program, for employees of Japanese and local companies in Thailand. The service awards points to employees with outstanding performance, those who make efforts to improve themselves, and those with good attendance records. Then employees can exchange the points for products. Since the Japanese government in July 2013 waived tourist visas for short stays by Thai nationals, there is a growing interest among Thais to travel to Japan, so Japanese tours will be some of the products available under the program.
Also in Indonesia, welfare-related services will be provided through PT. BENEFIT ONE INDONESIA (hereinafter, "Benefit One Indonesia") established on May 12, 2014.
Indonesia is experiencing continued economic growth, with pay levels rising each year and many working people actively changing their jobs. To secure capable human resources there is growing demand for incentive/welfare programs that boost employee motivation. Accordingly, Benefit One Asia will fully operate the Incentive Point program mainly for Indonesian employees of Japanese companies in Indonesia. The program awards points to employees with outstanding performance, those who make efforts to improve themselves, and those with good attendance records, and the employees can exchange those points for products. Available for exchange under the program are products that enrich leisure time, such as travel and restaurants, and that supplement food, communication and other life-related costs. And in light of the fact that Muslims (adherents to the Islamic faith) account for 90% of the Indonesian population, package tours for pilgrimages to Mecca, with accommodation, clothing and accessories suitable for Muslims, nutritional supplements appropriate for the fasting period, and many similar products will be provided.
Benefit One Indonesia intends to provide the Incentive Point program to Indonesian- and foreign-owned companies in Indonesia, and provide the Benefit Station welfare agency service in the future.
