Fundraising Based on Acquisition of Highest Rank in DBJ's Health Management Rating System

May 18, 2015

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it has become the first sogo shosha to be granted the highest rank in DBJ’s Health Management Rating System by Development Bank of Japan Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Toru Hashimoto, President & CEO; hereinafter “DBJ”).
This rating, based on DBJ’s own evaluation system, evaluates and selects companies offering superior health-conscious initiatives for employees and reflects the findings in its loan conditions before a loan is granted. ITOCHU has obtained this rank because of the following three major reasons.

  1. ITOCHU has introduced a morning-focused working system ahead of other companies, and has helped employees to reform their work approaches and increase work productivity, thereby reducing overtime work. Activities to improve employee health, including provision of free breakfast, have been implemented, and the result is quantitatively provided and made public.
  2. Health policy is planned with the cooperation of industrial physicians and the health insurance association, and a companywide system of healthcare activity has been established.
  3. By communicating closely with the Career Counseling Center as well as with persons in charge of human resources, and by implementing measures against mental health disorders, the healthcare of all employees is taken care of, including those working overseas.

For ITOCHU, human resources are its most valuable management resource. Employee health management is an important social responsibility of the company to enable employees to maximize their performance. It is positively managed by the top management, and all measures are taken. Under the Corporate Message, “I am One with Infinite Missions,” the company continues to implement positive measures to promote employee healthcare, such as strengthening mental healthcare, so that each employee can fulfill his/her social responsibility.
