ITOCHU Announces Its Receipt of the Grand Prize of the 65th Nikkei Advertising Awards for Its Advertising Series Using the Corporate Message "I am One with Infinite Missions"

October 20, 2016

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it has won the grand prize in the 65th Nikkei Advertising Awards, sponsored by Nikkei Inc.

The grand prize goes to a series of three advertisements, Corporate Message: A Story about a Merchant, which ran from October 5, 2015 to March 1, 2016.

The reason for the award is that the series of three advertisements depict the achievements of the managers who built the tradition of ITOCHU, using woodblock-like, friendly pictures with an air of innocence. The series is highly regarded as successfully delivering a message: trading can be attractive enough to stimulate young people’s sense of adventure.

While employing an impressive technique, the advertisements represent the depth of personality of the individual both as a merchant and as a human being. A sogo shosha typically regards people as an asset. Eloquently communicating this mindset may have helped ITOCHU win the grand prize.

ITOCHU will continue to make highly friendly corporate ads, as it seeks to enhance the value of the ITOCHU brand. We thank you for your continued support.
