ITOCHU Announces Change to Reporting Line of Sustainability Management Department

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today a restructuring of its organization as follows, effective May 1, 2017.

Nature of restructuring

The Sustainability Management Department of the Corporate Communications Division, which is under the control of the CSO/CIO, will now report directly to the CAO.

Background and objectives

ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) in corporations is becoming increasingly important. In line with this recent trend, ITOCHU is identifying the key issues for sustainability*, promoting more extensively and in a speedier fashion initiatives that will contribute to the development of a sustainable society in order to further enhance the trust that it have built with its stakeholders under the ITOCHU Mission of “Committed to the Global Good” and the Corporate Message of “I am One with Infinite Missions.”

As part of this process, ITOCHU has restructured the organization so that the Sustainability Management Department reports directly to the CAO, thereby creating a system to coordinate important measures such as dialogues with stakeholders while at the same time expediting decision making, in respect of a suite of measures relating to sustainability (environment and CSR).
