ITOCHU Corporation Wins Grand Award at WICI Japan Award for Excellence in Integrated Reporting

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) won the grand award for the first time for the WICI Japan Award for Excellence in Integrated Reporting.

WICI (World Intellectual Capital/Assets Initiative) Japan, the body that organizes the award, was formed in 2007 and participants include organizations representing companies, analysts, investors, accounting profession accountants and academia.It is dedicated to the disclosure and improvement of intellectual property/capital and KPI (key performance and value indicator).
The winning report is innovative, defined by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of two specific examples of the utilization of the “Guidance for Collaborative Value Creation” in examinations, concerning the recently-published “Ito Review 2.0 (“Final report of the Study Group on Long-term Investment (Investment Evaluating ESG Factors and Intangible Assets) toward sustainable Growth”).

Annual Report 2017, our publication, was very highly regarded as “a model report that pursues the practice of “Integrated Thinking Management” and, by clearly and concisely showing its results, it enables stakeholders to read about the future of corporate activities.”The examination covered numerous Integrated Reports from the top 250 companies in current aggregate value among those listed in the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and other companies. Other continued efforts to improve the integrated reports were also highly acclaimed.
ITOCHU will continue to improve its Annual Report (Integrated Reporting) and offer our investors and stakeholders useful financial and non-financial information that will help them understand our long-term and sustainable activities for value creation.

  • *Integrated Report: A report that simply summarizes the relevance of financial and non-financial information for investors and other stakeholders (for example,corporate management strategy, business model, governance, performance).
  • *Guidance for Collaborative Value Creation: This is a framework for companies and investors to deepen their understanding about each other and encourage activities for sustainable and collaborative value creation through information disclosure and dialogues. Guidance for Collaborative Value Creation is an indicator that will serve as a so-called common language.
