ITOCHU Announces Acquisition of Exclusive Rights to Import and Sell Canadian Brand Moose Knuckles

July 10, 2018

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Yoshihisa Suzuki, President & COO) has acquired the exclusive rights to import and sell products by Moose Knuckles, a Canadian brand of outerwear, in the Japanese market. Products from the brand will be launched on a full scale in the 2018 FW season via Gruppo Tanaka Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Nishi-ku, Osaka; Nobuyuki Tanaka, President).

Since 1921, the brand’s founder, the Twik family, has been protecting Canadians from the cold. They established the Moose Knuckles brand in 2009 in the belief that they could provide the leanest, toughest and most luxurious sportswear to the whole world. The fur-trimmed Stirling Parka and the Ballistic Bomber that they launched initially became popular immediately and are still loved as core collections by enthusiasts all over the world. In addition, their products featuring high functionality and unique marketing attracted attention, and the brand has developed and expanded into department stores and specialty stores in more than 30 countries.

In expanding into the Japanese market, the brand is targeting men and women in their 20s to 40s. In the future, the promotion of the brand will be expanded through department stores, specialty stores and multi-brand shops. The brand will strengthen its marketing activities with a focus on the brand features, such as holding pop-up events, and dissemination of information on social and other media. With these efforts, we will strive to enhance the recognition of the brand and aim to achieve sales of 2 billion yen within three years on a retail price basis.
