ITOCHU Wins Gold Award at WICI Japan Integrated Reporting Award 2020

December 3, 2020

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Yoshihisa Suzuki, President & COO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it won Gold Award at WICI Japan Integrated Reporting Award 2020. This award is equivalent to the Grand Award for Excellence in Integrated Reporting won by ITOCHU in 2017, and ITOCHU is the first company in the history of the award program to win it twice.

The World Intellectual Capital/Assets Initiative (WICI) was founded in 2007 and consists of business companies, financial analysts and investors from private-sector, in addition to public offices and researchers from academia. The awarding organization is WICI Japan, the Japanese branch of WICI established in 2008. The award program was established in 2013 as the WICI Japan Award for Excellence in Integrated Reporting as a part of measures promoting integrated reporting in Japan. WICI Japan became a general incorporated association on October 1, 2020, and renamed the award the WICI Japan Integrated Reporting Award. This year marks the eighth time the awards have been granted.

The program evaluated 606 companies, including the top 300 in terms of market capitalization listed in the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. ITOCHU’s Annual Report 2020 was praised for its near perfect integrated reporting that could be a model for other companies’ integrated reports. Also, it was highly acclaimed as “a company whose management is carried out with the integrated thinking, and whose medium- to long-term value creation capabilities are shown in an easy-to-understand manner in relation to each stakeholder, with the expectation that it will continue to increase its corporate value.”

ITOCHU will continue to improve its annual reports and provide its investors and other stakeholders with useful financial and non-financial information.
