ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President & COO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it has acquired land for the development of a logistics facility in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture in collaboration with ITOCHU Property Development, Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Norio Matsu, President). Moving forward, the logistics facility will be developed under the tentative name i Missions Park Tanotsu.

It will be the first logistics facility developed by ITOCHU in the Kyushu region. ITOCHU has decided to expand into Fukuoka because demand for logistics centers is expected to increase in the Kyushu region.

The planned site for the facility is strategically located for last one mile delivery in the Fukuoka urban district. Moreover, the site is approximately 200 m from the Fukuoka Urban Expressway’s Tanotsu IC and approximately 3 km from the Kyushu Jukan Expressway’s Fukuoka IC. With easy access to both the expressways, it is convenient for wide-area distribution in addition to local distribution.

Construction of the facility will begin in the first half of 2024 and it is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2025, while the development of the project is being pushed forward and tenants are being recruited. ITOCHU has a proven record of developing 36 logistics facilities with an area of approximately 460,000 tsubo (1,520,661 m²) in Japan. It will provide an optimal logistics center to tenant companies in the Kyushu region by utilizing the expertise it has developed.

ITOCHU has declared “enhancing our contribution to and engagement with the SDGs” as one of the basic policies of its Medium-term Management Plan. ITOCHU aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable society by building optimal, safe and secure logistics infrastructure through this project.
