ITOCHU Announces Acquisition of Import and Domestic Marketing Rights for Campbell's, the Global Market Leader in Canned Soups

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President & COO; hereinafter "ITOCHU") announced today that it has concluded an agreement with Campbell Japan Inc. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Lim Mooi Cheng, Representative; hereinafter "Campbell Japan"), a distributor of Campbell's soups in Japan, regardingcovering the import and domestic marketing rights. ITOCHU will startbegin importing and selling Campbell Japan's soup products on September 1, 2025. However, some region and products developed for, with certain retailers are excludedregional and retailer exceptions*1.

About Campbell's soups

Campbell's startedbegan selling soups in the United States in 1895. Canned soups, Campbell's flagship product that is, are nutritious and easy to prepare at home hasand have been considered a classic food in the United States. TheyThe soups are available in more than 120 countries around the world, holdingworldwide, giving Campbell's the largest market share in the global canned soup market*2. Campbell Japan was established in Japan in 1983, and has sold canned soups as well as powdered soups.

Instant soup market in Japan

The instant soup market, including both canned and powdered soups, has expanded steadily in Japan due to the growing number of onesingle-person households and working women who look for foods that are easy to prepare. The instant soup market in Japan is expected to grow, from about 103 billion yen in 2024 to around 132 billion yen in 2033*3.

Future development

ITOCHU has acquired the import and marketing rights of thefor canned soup products, and the marketing right of therights for powdered soups produced in Japan. It will startbegin importing and selling them in September 2025. The ITOCHU Group as a whole has donedoes business with approx.around 2,000 retail companies, and it intends to holdachieve a larger market sharesshare by ensuringbuilding greater brand value. ITOCHU is also planning to develop products suitable for the Japanese market.
