ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President & COO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with SYSTEX Corporation (headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan; Frank Lin, CEO; hereinafter “SYSTEX”), the leading IT service provider in Taiwan, and it has acquired a minority stake in the company. The goal of this partnership is to combine SYSTEX’s robust customer base with the overseas business foundation of the ITOCHU Group to strengthen the provision of global IT services to Taiwanese companies, particularly those in the semiconductor industry.
In recent years, the global demand for semiconductors has surged, leading Taiwanese semiconductor companies, who possess the largest share of the semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) foundry market, to expand their production sites to Japan, North America, and Southeast Asian countries. Consequently, the IT investment needs connected to these production sites have also increased. Taiwan is home to a concentration of advanced semiconductor manufacturers and IT equipment design and manufacturing companies. It is a core hub in the IT equipment supply chain, and it plays a vital role supporting the global technology industry*1.
SYSTEX provides comprehensive IT services to major Taiwanese enterprises, mainly in the finance and manufacturing industries and the public sector. These services range from the sale of IT equipment and proprietary solutions to system development and post-implementation maintenance and operations. With a particularly strong presence in the field of IT systems for semiconductor-related companies, SYSTEX is a recognized leading company in Taiwan’s IT industry distinguished by its expansive expertise in the industry and its industry-specific solutions.
ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation(abbreviated as “CTC”) has extensive expertise in IT equipment sales and system development and operation. Since ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation went private in 2023, ITOCHU has positioned the expansion of the overseas business foundation for IT services as a key strategic focus. In addition to expanding the IT service businesses in North America,*2 ITOCHU is actively pursuing partnerships with global collaborators. Under this strategy, investments and strategic partnerships in Taiwan, an essential hub in the IT supply chain, are regarded as significant steps to further strengthen the ITOCHU Group’s global IT service business.
Through this alliance, ITOCHU will leverage SYSTEX’s customer and technology base in Taiwan and the Group’s IT service business foundations in Japan, North America, and Southeast Asia to comprehensively support the global expansion of Taiwanese companies, especially those in the semiconductor sector, from an IT perspective. ITOCHU will continue to enhance its global IT service system and support the sustainable growth of its customers in the digital era.
