ITOCHU Announces Winning Key Firm of Integrity Award 2013 for Excellence

February 22, 2013

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that the company has received Key Firm of Integrity Award 2013 for Excellence from Integrex Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Hitoshi Nishimori, Chairman & CEO; hereinafter “Integrex”), a company that provides survey and investment advisory services for socially responsible investment (SRI) and support for companies aiming to fulfill their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The Integrity Award was founded in 2002 and since then has been bestowed to those companies that have made outstanding efforts in the areas of corporate social responsibility, corporate ethics, compliance and internal control. The winners were selected by the Integrity Award Council, consisting of experts based on surveys conducted by Integrex in the second half of 2012.

ITOCHU was selected as the winner in recognition of its efforts to construct an environment in which each one of its employees around the world can reassess the significance of his or her work in society and obtain a perspective on how they can contribute to solutions to the many social issues that exist using technologies and funds based on the company’s sampo yoshi spirit – which means “being good for the seller, the buyer, and society.” The Company was also recognized for its corporate commitment under the initiative of senior management.

ITOCHU was also selected as one of the corporations that excel in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) by the Tokyo Stock Exchange Inc. in July 2012. On receiving this award, ITOCHU is determined to continue placing great importance on corporate social responsibility in corporate management as a company with integrity.
