ITOCHU Announces Donation to Child Chemo House, Kobe

March 6, 2013

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it will make a contribution to the Child Chemo Support Foundation (headquartered in Ibaraki City, Osaka; Representative: Hideaki Ota; hereinafter “the Foundation”) for the operation of Child Chemo House (headquartered in Kobe City, Hyogo; hereinafter “Chemo House”) scheduled for completion in April 2013. Chemo House will be Japan’s first specialized childhood cancer treatment facility to provide an environment where children with cancer can live with their families during treatment. ITOCHU will install one beverage vending machine specially designed for Chemo House in each of its Headquarters in Tokyo and Osaka (photo below) and donate to the Foundation an amount corresponding to 6-10% of sales from all beverage vending machines installed in its Tokyo and Osaka Headquarters (percentage varies depending on the product).

This initiative is based on the response to humanitarian issues and the development of future generations specified by ITOCHU in the basic activity guidelines on social contribution, and ITOCHU will continue to take a proactive stance in supporting this project. Since money is donated each time ITOCHU employees purchase a beverage from a vending machine, it is believed that this will raise employee awareness in respect of childhood cancer.
