January 20, 2015

ITOCHU Corporation was awarded Silver Class at the RobecoSAM Sustainability Awards 2015, winning the recognition of RobecoSAM, a Swiss research institution that evaluates companies making efforts in sustainability and offers information to investors. ITOCHU was also chosen as an Industry Mover in the Trading Companies & Distributors sector, a title given to the company that most improved its score in its sector.

Of the 3,300 major corporations around the world, the Awards cover the 830 companies in 42 countries, which responded to questionnaires from RobecoSAM. It evaluates the actions and level of informational disclosure of each company in the categories of Society, Environment and Governance in each of its 59 industrial sector classifications, and awards the top (approx. 15%) companies as those conducting prominent efforts toward achieving a sustainable society. Of the 18 total evaluation fields this year, ITOCHU received the sector-highest scores in six fields, particularly in those concerning society such as human resource use, which led to an improved assessment.

We will continue to listen to the global voices of our stakeholders, act to resolve social issues through our businesses, and aim to achieve a sustainable company and growth of society.
