ITOCHU Group Corporate Mission “Sampo-yoshi” Featured in Harvard Business School Case Study, Now Publicly Available

March 20, 2025

The ITOCHU Group’s corporate mission, “Sampo-yoshi,” was featured in a case study from leading institution Harvard Business School (HBS), now publicly available.

In April 2024, HBS’ Professor Sandra J. Sucher, an expert in the research of building trusted corporations, took note of “Sampo-yoshi” and its role in achieving trust and sustainability at ITOCHU, selecting it as the subject for a case study. The case study became an official HBS publication in March 2025 and is now available for general purchase.

The case provides an academic analysis of the relationship between ITOCHU Group initiatives grounded in “Sampo-yoshi” and enhanced corporate value and sustainability. We anticipate that the case will be used not only at HBS, but at other academic institutions and among business management over the long-term.
