In September 2015, ITOCHU made Provence Huiles (PH), a French company which manufactures and sells vegetable oil mainly in Europe, into a subsidiary. PH mainly handles highly functional vegetable oils, such as high oleic sunflower oil and grape seed oil, for which demand is rising in the midst of the growing health consciousness around the world in recent years, and is one of the world's largest producers of grape seed oil. PH is also pursuing the creation of sustainable products made from raw materials produced in France, refining various types of oil from oil-bearing seeds and being quick to focus on sustainable products such as organic oil. ITOCHU will leverage PH as its vegetable oil production location in Europe and its sales capacity in North America and Asia to strengthen the value chain and to help achieve SDGs.
