Ltd. in Australia in cooperation with a leading resources company,South32 Pty. Ltd. The business carries out integrated operations from bauxite mines to alumina refinery, and supplies alumina to aluminum smelters worldwide.
Further, with ITOCHU Metals Corporation, we are promoting a broad range of businesses including the nonferrous products business and the steel scraps business. The recycling business, in particular, which is directly linked to the effective use of resources, is a main pillar of the company.
In the biomass field where further growth is expected in the future, we are engaged in promoting trade business of PKS(Palm Kernel Shell) and wooden pellets etc. thus contributing to propelling renewable energy.
In the solar industry, we are active along many points of the supply chain, from ingot and wafer production, to the design, sales and construction of photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems (system integration business), to investment in PV and solar thermal power generation projects. The entire PV industry supply chain is experiencing significant cost reduction pressuredriven by technical innovation. We are exploring various additional business opportunities ranging from the supply of raw materials, such as polysilicon and other key solar-related inputs, to equity investment and partnership with companies developing breakthrough technologies and business models, ultimately aiming to structure a very competitive solar value chain as a key global player.
